The community association "Gotitas de Limón" (Lime Drops) will begin their first loan cycle with Pro Mujer as a part of the regional office of Senkata. They are a group of seven individuals, and they are guided by a board on which Cristina is the president. The businesses of the community association's members are varied and include among them: a backpack making business, sweater sales, sales of pullovers, food sales, blanket sales, and a local store.

The loan she will receive goes to benefit the small businesses of the group Cristina belongs to, and she says this is the first time she has received a loan from Pro Mujer, joining by the invitation of a friend of hers who is already a member of the institution. She currently has a small business selling sweaters, a business she is learning to do alongside her sister and building their business little by little over the past three years.

The loan she will receive will build her working capital through buying sweaters, which she buys in the traditional markets of the city of La Paz and then sells at her own market stall. This line of work generates income to support her family in the best possible way, as she lives in a civil union and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes the savings, the workshops, the consulting, the loans, etc.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
