The group MAHOULOME 3 consists of fifteen members who all live in the same village. The group’s representative is Juliette, seen with her hand raised in the photo. To bolster their activities and better meet customer demand, the group is seeking financial assistance from ALIDé for the first time.
Juliette, age 45, never attended school. She is married to a reseller named Jean. The couple have three dependent children, all in school. Juliette and her husband live with their children, and the couple handle the various household responsibilities together. To that end, Juliette has been selling various products and cassava flour locally for eight years. She buys her stock in the area and at a market in Benin.
To strengthen their activities and better meet the needs of their customers, Juliette and the other members of MAHOULOME 3 are seeking a first loan from ALIDé. Their goal is to bolster their sales.

Pour contribuer aux divers besoins de sa famille, Juliette vend depuis huit ans, divers produits et de la farine de manioc dans sa région. Juliette s'approvisionne dans sa région et dans un marché du Bénin. Dans le but de renforcer leur activité et de mieux satisfaire leur clientèle, Juliette et les autres membres du groupement MAHOULOME 3 sollicitent un premier crédit auprès de ALIDé. Leur ambition est d’accroître le niveau de leur activité.
Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.
Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
