Ramil is 29 years old, single and lives in the town of Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. For the last six years, he has earned a living by planting and harvesting bananas. He joined GDMPC last year and is applying for a loan for PHP 9,500 to buy fertilizer. His goals for the future are to set money aside for emergencies and to buy more land for farming.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
