Haitham is a 40-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is living with his wife and two children who are still attending school. He has worked as a taxi driver since 2005, transporting customers to their desired locations. In parallel, he has worked on a freelance basis as a car blacksmith for many years. To afford the high costs of living and meet his family's needs, Haitham is obliged to work multiple jobs. He stated that his income is barely enough, so today, he is requesting a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to perform the needed maintenance on his car in order to make his taxi service easier and safer. He will also repaint the car and repair its exterior to attract more customers and gain higher income. In the future, he plans to replace his car with a new one.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
