Joyce is married and the mother of five children, all of whom are enrolled in school. For the last seven years, she has earned a living by running a beauty salon. She works on all categories of hair and is at her shop seven days a week. Joyce is requesting a loan for 500,000 UGX from MCDTSACCO to buy more supplies for her salon, which is located in her home. Her major business challenges are seasonality and an unreliable supply of electricity. Someday she hopes to own a bridal salon and educate her children through the university level. She lives in a rented house and has access to electricity and piped-in water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, rent and utilities.
