Lidia
Lidia is married and has one child who is of school age. She lives with her family members in a one room house located in the Villa Tunari zone of the city of El Alto.

She currently makes an income as she works more than eight hours a day weaving blankets. She also has a bookstore as a second source of income. Her income is not enough, which is why she is requesting a loan to increase and vary the merchandise in her bookstore. Weaving blankets is very hard and creates debt for her because it does not cover food costs, education, and the payment of basic services for her family.

Lidia's dream is to improve her income to be able to become independent and improve her quality of life.

This is the second loan she has requested from IMPRO and the first loan through Kiva.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
