Thorn has been an honest client of HKL for more than four years. To solve financial difficulties in her life, Thorn has made four loans already, and she has mentioned that they were very helpful in her farming business. As with the previous loans, Thorn would like to obtain her fifth loan to pay for her farm operating expenses. She will purchase seeds, fertilizers, and insecticides, and pay labor costs. Although she is from a low-income family, Thorn wants to take a peaceful and faithful path in life. She has never made any late payments on her previous four loans. Thorn is now 50 years old, married, and is responsible for 10 children, five of whom live independently with their new families.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
