Ubaldo, age 59, owns and operates a motorcycle transport business. Ubaldo has been engaged in his business for over a year and earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month. Ubaldo has one child and lives in the village of Poblacion 4, Clarin Misamis Occidental.
In 2010, Ubaldo joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services. He hoped to help improve his living situation and increase his ability to engage in business activities. Ubaldo is requesting his first loan of 15,000 PHP, which will be used to repair his existing vehicle so it gives better service. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
