Living in a rural area located in the Dambae district of Cambodia, Im is 37 years old and married. She has four children: two daughters and two sons, who are still in school and dependent on her. To make a living and take care of her children, she is a grocery seller while her husband plants rubber seedlings for sale. She has been in the business for several years. The main challenge is unhealthy rubber seedlings.
Im has been with VisionFund for three loan cycles and has completely repaid the loans. She successfully used the loans from VisionFund to better support her family’s living and business and also to send her children to school. With a good business, she is applying for a loan to buy more grocery items for her store, as well as to buy plastic bags for rubber seedling plantings. She hopes this loan will enable her to improve her business and make more income to improve her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
