Avei is 46 years old and married with six children. She has a small garden where she grows taro, taamu and bananas that she can sell in her community or at the market. She has been doing this for two years.
Avei needs a loan to buy barbed wire fence, a wheelbarrow, bush-knives and chemicals. She has been a member of SBPD since 2011. Avei will use the profits from her sales to expand their house.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
