In her free time she enjoys walking through the welcoming streets of the city and sometimes cooks a delicious “Arroz con Mariscos” [Rice with Seafood] to share with her family.

Josefina works very diligently as a nurse in a hospital in her city and also, thanks to support and teaching from her mother, she also started her small tamale business. Day to day starting very early in the morning Josefina prepares these delicious dishes to sell. She spends about 8 hours daily in her business and believes it does well because her customers seek her out due to the tasty way she cooks and because of her kindness.

Josefina is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help provided she will be able to buy ingredients to make tamales like: corn, corn husks, chili and lard, among others. She will also be able to buy a freezer to store her products and ingredients. In this way, Josefina’s business will be better supplied and equipped and she hopes with that to increase sales and income that she wants to use to insure her children’s wellbeing and schooling.
