Mao is 40 years old. She is married and lives with her parents and four children in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. She has been involved in growing rice and sewing palm leaf thatches to sell for more than 10 years, earning approximately $3 per day. Her husband runs a tree-felling service. He earns about $3 daily. Three of her children are construction workers. They earn about $11 each day.
Due to the difficulty of her family’s transportation, Mao is requesting a loan of $1000 to purchase a motorbike for commuting. This purchase would enable her to use the money saved on her transportation expenses to support the family. In the future, she would like to send her youngest child to a good school.
