Ivo is a widower with five children, two of them below the ages of 15 years. He lost his wife sometime ago. The entire family lives in a two bedroom apartment at the Mile four Nkwen district of Bamenda North West Region of Cameroon.

He has been facing challenges in life such as his son's denial to attend school, another bad moment came went the son had a snake bite, the death of his father and to worsen the situation the death of his wife. It was like the whole world had come to end. But light was once again in the horizon when he learned of GHAPE.

This loan will be used in the buying and selling of palm wine, the acquisition of benches, a musical set for the relaxation of customers, cups and glasses and jars. This loan will help the community by providing natural palm wine for relaxation and also it is a common practice in our traditional activities of marriage and death celebrations to have it for drinking. The business will be successful because demand for it is all year due to the numerous death celebrations, child naming ceremonies, village meetings, traditional marriages and lots more. The profits will be used to educate his children and improve on their living conditions.

About Grounded and Holistic Approach to People's Empowerment (GHAPE)

This loan is administered by Grounded and Holistic Approach to People's Empowerment (GHAPE), a non-profit non-government organization based in Bamenda, Cameroon. GHAPE takes a multi-faceted approach in working towards the empowerment of the poor and poverty alleviation. Every client is trained in business management, basic health, life skills, financial management, profits and losses, and family values. Clients are also required to contribute a small amount into a personal savings account; most clients save much more than the minimum requirement. GHAPE instills a sense of family and community among its clients and staff and has developed a strong bond of trust between the organization and its clients.
