Moses is married with one child, age 5. He has been in mixed farming for 8 years in his rural home in Nkubu area of Central Kenya. He also works as a plumber for additional income. His farm produces bananas, maize, passion fruits, and milk, which he sells to the local market.
Moses has made a second loan request of 45,000 Kenya shillings (KES) with Juhudi Kilimo to help him venture into the poultry farming business and diversify his farming business, which will ensure stable income on and off seasons. He plans to use the income to educate his child and improve the family's living standards.
Moses says climatic changes pose the greatest challenge and calls for establishment of irrigation system in the future.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
