Alima is 53 years old and is married with seven children between the ages of 15 and 25. Two of her children are in school and the others are working. Alima lives in Coast Province, Kenya. For the past eight years, she has operated a kiosk and she is also a farmer. Despite her advanced age, Alima has shown a great deal of enterprise. Her children contribute to her income and she lives in a semi-permanent house without electricity or running water.
Alima is requesting a 20,000 KES loan to stock her kiosk with maize flour, sugar, salt, and cooking oil. In the future, she would like to run an additional business to earn more income and rebuild her present house to make it bigger and more convenient for her family.
