Khadijeh is a 40-year-old married woman from Lebanon who lives with her husband and their three school-aged children. Ten years ago, she started to work in clothing stores. After gaining the needed experience, she was able to open her own clothing business several months ago. Her store is located next to her town, and she offers a wide variety of clothing. She strives together with her husband, who has worked as a truck driver since 1992 in order to satisfy the family needs and enhance their way of living.
Today, she is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to expand her store’s inventory of new summer collections. She’s certain that the loan will help her diversify her selection of merchandise. In the future, she is hoping to also sell shoes from her store.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
