Hekmat is a 44-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and five children, who are still attending school. He works in his town on a freelance basis carrying a trolley on which he places vegetables for vending. He makes a good income from his product sales, but he suffers financially, especially during disturbing weather since the selling rate is very low at this period as he faces difficulties in moving under the rain.
This was the motive for him to request a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l., since he plans to purchase a minivan for his business so as to make his transportation safer and easier, and at the same time, increase his sales and thus his income. This will be his first Kiva loan, and he is sure that it will help him achieve remarkable growth in a short amount of time.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
