Mario owns a carpentry shop in the community of Gutiérrez Norte. He’s been in this line of work for three years. Prior to having his workshop he worked selling furniture and mirrors decorated in Lion’s Paw style and thanks to the skills obtained decided to buy his own tools and open his own business. He learned carpentry when still very young which made it possible for him to have his own place of work and to develop independently.
El señor Mario, es propietario de un taller de carpintería en la comunidad de los Gutiérrez norte, tiene tres años de dedicarse a esta actividad, antes de tener su taller él era vendedor de muebles y espejos decorados patas de león, y gracias al conocimiento y a la habilidad que adquirió, decidió en invertir para comprar sus propias herramientas y establecer su propio negocio, el aprendió el oficio de la carpintería desde muy joven, lo que le permitió llegar a tener su propio local de trabajo y desarrollarse de forma independiente.
This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.
