The “LAS FAVORITAS” community bank are about to start their sixth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Cascada regional office. The group has eight members and is run by a board of directors which has Romualda as its treasurer. The businesses that the members are engaged in are varied and include: making bricks, running a food business, starting a 'salchipapa' (fast food) business, providing public transport, selling underwear, selling sweaters and running a neighborhood store.

Romualda says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for four years, having joined when she received an invitation from a friend. She currently has a craft business (knitting blankets). She says that five years ago she used to knit sweaters together with her sister but gradually started knitting blankets as it makes more money.

Romualda will use the loan she is about to take out to expand her capital (buying yarn). She will buy her yarn from suppliers in the city of El Alto. After she has made her products she will sell them in her sales location every afternoon. This work allows her to make income with which to support her family. She is married and has one child.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Romualda replied that she likes spending time with her fellow group members.

La A.C. “LAS FAVORITAS” iniciará el sexto ciclo en Pro Mujer, como parte del Centro Focal de Cascada, está compuesta por ocho integrantes y está dirigida por una mesa directiva donde la señora Romualda es la Tesorera. Los negocios que las integrantes de la asociación comunal llevan adelante son variados entre ellos tenemos: corte de ladrillos, pensión, inicio de salchipapería, transporte público, venta de ropa interior, venta de chompas, tienda de barrio.

La señora Romualda, indica que hace cuatro años que integra Pro Mujer, ingresando por invitación de una amiga. En la actualidad ella tiene un negocio de artesanías (tejido de mantas), ella cuenta que hace cinco años atrás realizaba tejido de chompas conjuntamente su hermana y poco a poco ingreso al tejido de mantas que es más beneficioso económicamente.

El crédito que ahora sacará es para la ampliación de su capital (compra de lana) mismo que comprará de las distribuidoras de la ciudad de El Alto y posteriormente a la elaboración lo venderá en su espacio de venta todas las tardes. Esta forma de trabajo le permite generar recursos para apoyar en lo posible a su familia, pues ella es casada y tiene un hijo.

Cuando se le consulta que le gusta de Pro Mujer, ella responde que le gusta estar con las compañeras.
