Vantha is a 52-year-old widow with two independent children. One of her children works at a hotel while the other one works at a church.
Vantha manages the family's hardship by growing Marian plums and jack-fruit as her primary source of income. She also sells clothes and works as the chief during weddings to earn additional income. Now, Vantha is seeking her second loan with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. The first loan, which she successfully paid back, has helped her to stabilize her businesses, especially by purchasing more clothes for resale. She is requesting a loan of US $1,000 to buy additional clothes for resale. She hopes that her business will greatly improve and she will earn more income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
