As the breadwinner of the family residing in the Dambae district of Battambang Province, Mon has to be responsible for two children who are still in school. To feed her family, she has been working for 7 years on one hectare of farmland each for growing rice and cassava. From these current businesses, she can earn up to 5 US Dollars per day. For her, the main challenges are children's illness and the insufficiency of working capital for her farmland.
Mon has just joined VisionFund this cycle as a first-cycle client. She is applying for a loan of 2,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer and hire laborers for plowing her land for both cash-crops. She hopes she still can keep both of her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
