The “10 ESTRELLAS” (Ten Stars) community bank are about to start their first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Alto Limo regional office. The group has nine members and is run by a board of directors which has Lidia as its president. The businesses that the members of the group are engaged in are varied and include: spinning vicuña wool, selling sweaters, selling potato and freeze-dried potato, running a store, selling empanadas, cakes and rolls, and making sausages.

Lidia says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for three years. She joined through an invitation from a loan officer who visited her home. She currently has a business spinning and selling vicuña wool. She says that she started this business on the recommendation of one of her neighbors who earned a lot of money and was able to take care of her children. Lidia has been in this business for four years now.

Lidia will use the loan that she is currently taking out to increase her capital. She will raw vicuña wool which she will then spin and sell in the traditional weekend street markets in the city of El Alto. This work allows her to make income with which to support her family. She is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Lidia replied that she likes the health training and the loans.

La A.C. “10 ESTRELLAS” iniciará el ciclo primer en Pro Mujer, como parte del Centro Focal de Alto Lima, está compuesta por nueve integrantes y está dirigida por una mesa directiva donde la señora Lidia es la Presidenta. Los negocios que las integrantes de la asociación comunal llevan adelante son variados entre ellos tenemos: hilado de vicuña, venta de chompas y suéteres, venta de chuño y papa, tienda surtida y varios, empanadas, queques y rollos, panadero, elaboración de embutidos.

La señora Lidia, indica que hace tres años que integra Pro Mujer, ingresando por invitación de una asesora que fue a su domicilio. En la actualidad ella tiene un negocio de hilado y venta de lana de vicuña, ella cuenta que este negocio lo emprendió por la recomendación de una de sus vecinas, pues ella ganaba mucho dinero y podía cuidad a sus hijos, es por eso que desde hace cuatro años atrás doña Lidia trabaja en este rubro.

El crédito que ahora sacará es para el incremento de capital (compra de lana de vicuña) mismo que tendrá que desarrollar un proceso de hilado y posteriormente venderlo en las ferias tradicionales de la cuidad de El Alto los fines de semana. Esta forma de trabajo le permite generar recursos para apoyar en lo posible a su familia, pues ella es casada y tiene dos hijos.
