Mariamu is from Samburu, by the city of Mombasa. She is a widow and has nine children. They live in their house in the same village.
Mariamu does fruits and vegetables farming and sells from her subdivision in the mornings. Mariam has an established customer base because she makes deliveries to her esteemed customers.
Mariamu approached Yehu Microfinance and Kiva to access a small loan so that she can buy seasonal fruits and vegetables and also to establish a tea and coffee making business. She wants to restock her inventory so that she can be prepared to meet the demands of her customers.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
