Agnes is a resident farmer in Nkubu, Central Kenya, where she produces milk, tea and vegetables. She has been in farming for thirty years with the help of one farmhand. She is married and has six adult children.
Agnes has requested a loan of 50,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy poultry birds. She says this will improve her farming income and make her independent and have better standards of living. She also plans to buy more land to expand her farming business.
Agnes says Juhudi Kilimo staff are doing a commendable job.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
