Ali is a 56-year-old Lebanese man. He’s married to Ilham, his soul mate and the mother of his two children, of whom one is working and the other is still attending school. Despite his older age, Ali is obliged to work continually as he is the breadwinner, responsible for covering his family expenses, especially his child’s education fees.
Ali owns an orchard, where he provides his customers a great quantity of fresh fruits. He has been involved in this occupation since 1992. He suffers from a bad financial situation. That’s why he’s asking today for a loan from Ameen s.a.l, a Kiva partner, to improve his business by purchasing an electrical generator for the well to irrigate the trees and increase his productivity. He believes that this Kiva loan will also allow him to offer a greater quality of products and thus improve his income by minimum of 30%.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
