Yi
Yi is 33 years old and is married. He lives in a thatched house with his 27-year-old wife and a child in the Prey Chor district of Kompong Cham province. Yi, as well as other villagers, is dedicated to the farming business to earn a living. He works along with his wife in the rice field and also goes fishing in a nearby stream every day to support his family. However, the income barely seems to cover his daily costs.

Due to an old and longstanding thatched house, Yi’s family has encountered difficulties in their life, especially during the rainy season. The house was affected by the rain and it’s not strong enough for the family to live in. In connection to this matter, Yi has applied for a loan of 1,200,000 KHR to purchase wooden boards and lattice to fix his house. This will provide a comfortable living for the family and there’ll be no fear of them suffering in the rain. Yi thanks you in advance.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
