Nary is 31 years old and lives in Kandal Stoeng district of Kandal Province. As the breadwinner of the family of two kids who are still in school, she has been farming on one hectare of farmland as her main income for nine years and working in a factory as additional income for six years. She can earn about 10 US Dollars per day, but she is able to save about 4 US Dollars.
This is the first loan for Nary with VisionFund and she is requesting a loan of 1,000 US dollars to buy fertilizers, seeds, and a cow for her farmland. She hopes to grow healthy quantities of rice and earn more profits so that she can keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
