Main De Dieu 2 Group
In this Group: Serge, Bridges, Avie, Hortence, Aimé, Robert, Alice
Serge, age 32, is single and has an eight-year-old child. He also provides and cares for his grandmother. Serge is representing the Main de Dieu 2 (#1) group. Serge operates a video game room in his community. Game rooms in Congo are like mini arcades where customers pay to play on video game systems. This game room has been in operation for five months. He will use the loan to buy two more televisions for his business. His business strategy is to offer better prices than other game rooms.

Serge has received three previous loans from HOPE Congo, Kiva's partner. He has a good repayment record. He hopes to one day have a large building and operate a large entertainment and games business.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
