Samson is 46 years old, married and blessed with 7 children. He is from Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines, where his business of rice production is located. Samson has experienced many difficult times in his life, but in spite of this he has remained determined to pursue his business to earn an income.
Samson is engaged in an agricultural business sector, specializing in planting and harvesting rice for sale. He has been cultivating this land for about five years. He told GDMPC loan officers that he doesn't mind the scratches and itches brought about by his work, as long as he can earn income. He earns PHP 6000 a month.
Samson joined GDMPC to gain financial access to improve his living conditions. He is requesting a loan of PHP 15,000 to purchase manure for the good growth of his crops and to enhance production. When the crop matures and is harvested, the revenue will be allotted for expanding his business to enable him to earn further income and to sustain his family's daily needs.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
