Aleksander
Aleksander is 35 years old. He is from the Samtredia District and lives with his family: his wife, Maka, his mother and two children (4 and 12 years old). The younger daughter goes to the kindergarten and the elder studies in the village school. The family earns their living through an agricultural business.

They have 2 milk cows and a calf. They produce traditional West Georgian cheese which is sold on the local open market. The family’s main activity is farming. They have a greenhouse where they grow tomatoes and various greens. They sell 2.5 – 3 tons of greens and tomatoes in a year. They have a plot of land as well, where watermelon is grown. They sell 10-15 tons of watermelon per season.

Along with the agricultural activities, Aleksander’s mother is busy with trading. She sells clothing locally. The family has the additional income in the amount of 250-300 Lari. The total average monthly income of the family is 1,000 Lari.

Aleksander requested a loan for his agricultural activities. He will cultivate and fertilize the land. Also, he plans to make an irrigation system. The family will work hard on their plot during the spring and summer seasons. After properly completed seasonal work the family will get a better and greater harvest than in the last year. They will sell it through known distribution channels for a good price and get profit which will be used for purchasing household goods. As a result of the above mentioned activities, the family will have better living conditions.
