Valerian is 49 years old. He is married and lives in a small village in the Abasha District with his family: his wife, Natalia, and three children (11, 12 and 16 years old). All three study in the village school. Valerian and Natalia are busy with agricultural activities. They are busy with cattle breeding. They have 5 milk cows, from which they produce cheese. They sell approximately 90 kg. of cheese per month on the local open market. Also, they have a pig and sell piglets.
Along with the cattle breeding, Valerian and Natalia are busy with farming. They own 1.25 hectare of land, where tomatoes and maize are grown. They sell on average 600 kg. of maize per season. The total average monthly income of the family is 450 Lari. They work hard but still don’t have enough income to make some savings for purchasing additional household goods or for renovation of the house.
Valerian requested a loan for his agricultural land. He will cultivate his land and sow more maize and tomatoes. He will work hard during the spring and summer seasons to get a good harvest. After properly done seasonal work, he hopes to get a greater harvest of maize and tomatoes, and his sales will increase. With increased profits Valerian plans to repair the house, because the existing one is old and uncomfortable. As a result of the above mentioned activities the family will be able to spend their evenings after a hardworking day in a more comfortable environment.
