Luis operates a mototaxi business. He started the business with help from his mother, but he didn't have enough money to buy a mototaxi so he's had to rent one. He works 10 hours a day, more or less, and, on average, carries 40 passengers. He has a reliable base of customers because he provides a good service and treats everyone with respect and good cheer. Luis is grateful to you and other Kiva lenders because your loans will make it possible for him to improve his house. He wants to add a second bathroom and build a wall to enclose his patio. The investment will make the house safer and more comfortable for him and his family. For the future, he wants to buy a mototaxi of his own so that he can grow his business and, in turn, his income.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
