Mario, aged 41, is a married entrepreneur with five children who lives in Tinacla-an, Clarin. He earns his income from banana production. Mario started this business almost five years ago and earns 6,000 PHP a month.
To improve his business, Mario is borrowing 8,000 PHP from GDMPC micro-credit which he recently joined. He will use the loan to purchase fertilizers such as manure. Before long, he’s hopeful of the possibility of expanding his business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
