Tojiniso
Tojiniso has recently become a widow. She is 41 years old and has three children. Sadly, her husband died a short time ago due to an illness, and now she raises their children alone. The children still live at home, but Tojiniso is planning a wedding for her oldest daughter. Traditions dictate that she undertake extensive preparations and make large purchases. Not surprisingly, her salary is not sufficient to buy everything, and so she is taking this loan to cover her expenses.

At this time, Tojiniso's son and other relatives contribute to the family's budget. This is Tojiniso's second personal loan, and she is happy with the conditions of borrowing from MDO Arvand, LLC. She is grateful fo the financial support.

About MDO Arvand

MDO Arvand is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Tajikistan, offering small loans to entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This makes an enormous difference in a country, which is not only the poorest in Central Asia, but also home to a population where two-thirds live below the poverty line. Today, Tajikistan's economy literally depends on remittances being sent from family members working abroad in Russia because there are so few local job opportunities.

But Arvand loans have been able to make a difference and change lives. Read about some of the incredible success stories they have seen here in this Kiva blog post: Bringing hope to Tajikistan with Arvand -- one success story at a time.
