Batoul is a 33-year-old single woman from Lebanon. She is living with her parents and only sibling. She has worked as a hairdresser and beautician for the past 5 years. She works on a freelance basis and she also visits customers at their domiciles to provide them with her talented hairdressing and beauty services. In parallel, she owns a small apartment and she benefits from its rental fees. Today, she is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase beauty products and supplies. Specifically, she will buy a laser machine in addition to tattoo materials. She is well known in her region and neighboring towns by her good reputation and she is certain that with the new laser services, she will be able to attract more customers and therefore increase her income. In the future, she hopes to open her own beauty salon where she will receive her customers appropriately.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
