Chin is 42 years old, married, and is responsible for six children. She operates a rice farming business, which allows her to cover her daily expenses and support her children in their education. Chin is happy because she has a supportive husband who always helps her in the business. Also, he works in the construction field to provide the family income. She has been in the farming business for nearly 30 years.
She is now taking out a loan of $1,000 USD to purchase a motorcycle for household use. This is her first loan from HKL and Kiva, and she hopes that she can improve her living standards and make the family more comfortable. In the future, she wishes to expand her business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
