Sam Ol, age 44, earns a living by selling fish. She has been engaged in this work for over 10 years and she earns approximately $10 per day. She lives with her husband and their four children in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia. Her husband helps her run the business. One of her children is a hairdresser who earns about $3 per day.
Due to the difficulty in her family’s transportation, Sam Ol is requesting a loan of $1,100 in order to purchase a motorcycle for commuting. This purchase will help her to transport her fish to sell in larger amounts, allowing her to earn more income to support the family.
In the future, she would like to purchase a truck for carrying her fish to market and to help her children earn bachelor’s degrees. Moreover, she hopes to rebuild her present house to make it bigger and more convenient for her family.
