Aged 39, Samorn lives in a rural village of the Sa Ang district of Kandal province. She has five children, four of whom are dependent on her and two of whom are still in school. She is a rice farmer with 0.35 hectare of farmland and she supplements her income by planting vegetables. She has been in this business for several years.
Samorn’s group consists of four members who are all female. Samorn has been with VisionFund for ten loan cycles already. She successfully used the loans to better support her business and family and she paid back her loans with VisionFund. Now she can earn around 26,000 KHR per day.
Now requesting a loan with her group members, Samorn, who is the group leader, wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers and seeds for her business. She hopes to increase crop yields and make a better living.
