Thona, aged 27, is a married mother of one small dependent daughter and lives in a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. Her family’s main income is from rice farming and cassava planting which she has been doing for five years to make a living and she can make a daily income of around 17,000 KHR per day from her current business.
This is the second loan for Thona with VisionFund and she completely paid back the first loan. Now requesting a loan of 800,000 KHR with VisionFund, she will use this loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income so as to set aside some money to afford to purchase a hand tractor for her farming.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
