Elena lives with her family in Kamenka-Dneprovskaya city, which is located in the Zaporozhskaya region of south-eastern Ukraine. Elena rents a store space where she sells groceries: fish, sausages, pasta, pastries, drinks, ice cream etc. She really likes her job. In her store all the groceries are carefully arranged and it is always clean and cozy. Other grocery stores in the city are located far away from Elena's store so there is not shortage of customers. Her groceries are in demand and there are many regular clients. Elena has had her grocery store for 3 years already.

Elena is planning to invest 10000 griven from the Kiva loan to replenish her inventory and purchase more sausage varieties, more kinds of pastries etc. She is a very goal oriented person and her business has been profitable but this spring the store suffered two robberies and Elena lost a lot of money. The criminals have been caught and will be persecuted soon. Elena has bravely survived these disasters and is now working extra hard to repair the damages, as the grocery store is the main source of income for the family.
