Aged 40, Sophea is a married mother of two dependent children who are still in school. She lives in a village of the Tbaung Khmum district of Kampong Cham province. To make a living, she has been farming rice and planting maize for almost twenty years, earning a daily income of around 9,400 Riel (KHR). She is facing a lack of working capital to support her business.

Sophea's group consists of four members who all are female. This is the second loan for Sophea's group with VisionFund. She is leading her group to apply for a loan of 1,200,000 KHR each. As the leader, she will use her portion to buy rice seeds and pay for land preparation. She hopes to increase her crop yield and earn more income to make a better living.
