Chun B. is 38 years old and with her three children, has resided in Kampong Cham province for many years. All her children are students and sometimes, when they have free time, they help their mother selling sugar cane juice and groceries. On average, she earns around $6 a day of profit. She started the business in the year 2000. Moreover, to support the family’s income her husband, Kun Sopheap, 43, is a police official with a salary of $50 per month.

Because she wants to increase the number of groceries for sale to meet her customer's demand, she has applied for a loan from Kiva, to purchase groceries in bulk and save the money. The majority of the loan will however be used to purchase a plot of land to resell whenever the price is high.
