Faalilois, a 65-year-old married mother of six, has run a business selling general goods and products in her community for 10 years. A member of SPBD since 2008, Faalilo has requested a loan to buy more goods and products for the shop. She plans to use her profits to improve quality and pay for her children's education.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
