Soum is 51 years old. She is married and blessed with six children in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. She is a homemaker. Her husband runs a business purchasing creels and round baskets to resell. He earns approximately $5.00 per day. Four of her children are employed. They earn about $18 per day. In order to improve her family’s finances, Soum is requesting a loan of $1,000 for use in her husband’s business to purchase more creels and round baskets to resell. By doing so, he would generate more income to support the family. In the future, she would like to use the profit to expand her husband’s business and help her children earn bachelor’s degrees. In addition, she hopes to rebuild her present house to make it bigger and more convenient for her family.
