The LUMIERE DE DIEU group is comprised of three people who belong to the same artisans association. The group representative, Sohè Frédéric, is the one with his hand raised in the photo. This is the third time that the group has asked for financial support from ALIDé in order to grow their business.

Sohè Frédéric is married to a retailer named Célestine. The couple has five dependent children who all go to school. In addition to their own children, the couple has another child under their supervision. Sohè Frédéric lives with his wife and children. Together, the couple takes care of the family expenses.

Sohè Frédéric stopped going to school after elementary school and learned how to sew. For close to 14 years, Sohè Frédéric has been sewing in his studio in Benin in order to contribute to the various needs of his family. With the goal of buying a new sewing machine so that he can be more competitive on the market, Sohè Frédéric and the other members of the LUMIERE DE DIEU group would ALIDé to grant them another loan. Their two previous loans were reimbursed.

Le groupe LUMIERE DE DIEU est formé de trois personnes qui appartiennent à une même association d'artisans. Le représentant de ce groupe, nommé Sohè Frédéric est celui dont la main est levée sur la photo. C’est la troisième fois que ce groupe sollicite l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue d’élever le niveau de leur activité. Sohè Frédéric est marié à une revendeuse du nom de Célestine. Le couple a cinq enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Le couple a un autre enfant à charge en dehors de leurs enfants. Sohè Frédéric vit ensemble avec ses enfants et sa femme. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges familiales. Sohè Frédéric a arrêté l'école au niveau primaire et a appris la couture. Il y a près de quatorze ans que Sohè Frédéric mène cette activité dans son atelier au Bénin dans le but de contribuer aux divers besoins de sa famille. Dans le but d'acquérir une nouvelle machine à coudre afin d'être plus compétitif sur le marché, Sohè Frédéric désire obtenir un autre crédit auprès de ALIDé, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe LUMIERE DE DIEU. Les deux premiers crédits reçus précédemment ont été bien remboursés.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
