Ms. Adjo B. is 34 years old, single, and does not have any children. However, Adjo provides some much-needed help to her siblings by caring and providing for their numerous children. Adjo owns a salon just outside of the central market in Adèta, a location that attracts the market traffic throughout the week and especially on the weekends. Like many hairdressers in Togo, she specializes in ‘tresses,’ a popular African hairstyle of braids made with synthetic hair. With her loan Adjo would like to buy more hair products and tresses to satisfy her customers. With these purchases she hopes to increase her sales to be able to raise her quality of life and contribute to the expenses of her siblings’ children.
