Chet, age 22, is single, living with his parents in a village located in the Sa Ang district. He makes his own living through farming rice and planting cucumbers and he supplements his income by fishing in the village. This business enables him to earn around 50,000 KHR per day to spend for daily expenses, and he is able to save around 16,000 KHR each day. He has been in this business for several years.
This is the first loan for Chet with Kiva's field partner, VisionFund. Now requesting a loan, he will use it to buy a boat with an engine for fishing and use a portion of it to buy fertilizer for his farmland. With this loan, he hopes to grow his business and make a living better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
