Salima is a resident of Mariakani, Kenya. The town is located on the road that links two Kenyan towns. She is a married mother of four children and runs a grocery stall shop which has been in operation for the last three years. She began the business with her parents’ assistance.
Salima is applying for a loan of Ksh 41,850 to purchase cereals, e.g. maize, beans, etc. Her desire is to own a larger grocery stall in future. The additional income from this loan will help her purchase more stock of cereals to sell. The challenges that currently face the business are the seasonal business climate and the high cost of transportation, which in turn increases the cost of farm produce.
