Originally from a village of the Ek Phnom district, Hing is 50 years old and married. To make a living, she and her husband have been planting cassava on two hectares of farmland, as well as maize, cabbage and cucumber, for several years. The main challenge to her family's business is the poor health of the crops.
This is Hing's third loan with VisionFund, and she has completely paid back her past loans, which have helped sustain her business and increase her household's income. Now, she is able to earn around 59,000 KHR per day from her business. Now requesting a third loan, Hing wants to use this loan to buy fertilizer and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to make more income to improve her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
