Mrs. Sang L., age 53, has seven children and lives in Siem Reap province, Cambodia. Her husband, Mr. Kong Ven, 40, is a logger and earns about $5 a day. One of their children is married and lives away from home, and another works as a waitress in a restaurant in Siem Reap, where she earns around $100 a month. Their five other children are all students. This couple has applied for a loan to buy a plot of farmland, on which they will grow a variety of vegetables. By doing this, they will increase their income and provide better support to their family.
